What is a Colorblindness Vision Simulator?

About 1 in 12 men and 1 in 200 women have some form of colour vision deficiency. This simulator shows how your design, chart or photo looks to them. It uses the Machado, Oliveira and Fernandes (2009) model, applied in linear RGB, for the three types of dichromacy, plus full colour blindness (achromatopsia).

Frequently Asked Questions

Q:What is the most common type of colour blindness?

Red-green deficiency (protan and deutan types) is by far the most common, mostly in men. Blue-yellow (tritan) is rare.

Q:Is this simulation exact?

It is a widely used scientific model of full dichromacy. Many people have milder forms, so they see somewhere between normal and the simulation.

Q:Are my images uploaded?

No. The colour conversion runs on a canvas in your browser.
