Bcrypt Hash Generator & Verifier
Generate bcrypt password hashes with cost factor 4–14, or check whether a password matches an existing $2a$/$2b$ hash. Runs locally with bcryptjs.

What is a Bcrypt Hash Generator & Verifier?
Bcrypt is a password hashing function built to be slow, so stolen password hashes are expensive to crack. Each hash contains its algorithm version, its cost factor and a random 22-character salt, which is why the same password gives a different hash each time. This tool uses the bcryptjs library in your browser to create real hashes and to verify a password against a hash from your database.

How to use this Bcrypt Hash Generator & Verifier
Type the password in the input box. A new bcrypt hash appears on the right.
Raise the cost factor for a slower, stronger hash. 10–12 is common for web apps.
To verify, paste an existing hash into "Hash to verify". The result says whether the password matches.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q:Why does the same password give a different hash?
Bcrypt adds a random salt to every hash. Verification still works because the salt is stored inside the hash itself.
Q:What cost factor should I use?
Pick the highest cost your server can afford while keeping login under about 250 ms. Today that is usually 10 to 12. Each step up doubles the work.
Q:What is the difference between $2a$, $2b$ and $2y$?
They are versions of the same algorithm. $2b$ is current; $2y$ comes from PHP. This tool verifies all of them and creates $2b$ hashes.
Q:Is my password sent to a server?
No. Hashing and checking run in your browser.
